Up Close at the Dance Hub 2022

Sunday, April 24, 2022, 2:00pm and 4:00pm
The Dance Hub

After a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19, American Dance & Music’s (AD&M) annual event, Up Close at The Dance Hub (formerly known as Dance: Up Close and Cultural) is back. The hour-long performance features new works that range from ballet to modern dance to ethnic dance and movement theater. Works include:

  • A new solo for one of Santa Barbara’s finest dancers, Robin Wilson, choreographed by Weslie Ching
  • Two dances from Silk Road countries, including Persia and Uzbekistan, danced by Gulistan Dance Theater
  • A movement theater work by E. Bonnie Lewis and Terri Lujan in tribute to their mentor, Jan E. Day, former dancer with Bella Lewitsky
  • The Dance Hub’s Adult Student Performance Group premiere of Pockets Full of Posies by artistic director Carrie Diamond

Live piano accompaniment will be provided by AD&M Music Director Eric Valinsky and live percussion by Susan Rudnicki and Ron Wagner. Original electronic music by Nikolas Valinsky.

Up Close at the Dance Hub will present two shows, at 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Seating is limited so audience members will need to reserve their spots online in advance. To help fund this event and future performances, AD&M will be collecting donations online*. Suggested donation is $25 per seat with a minimum of $10. The safety and health of the audience is a primary concern of AD&M. For this reason, attendance will be limited, full vaccination will be required, and masks will be worn at all times.
